So exactly what IS CCE, and what it is NOT!
Take a look at the video here. Do let me have your comments.
That was so easily and simply said! Kids I have talked to think that CCE has demonized and equated schooling to tests and exams because that is the way we go about doing things, don't we? The concept is simple common sense and it is surprising why as a community of teachers we weren't ready for it and come up with creative ways of doing things. How exciting it is to create the story of learning of children! As a teacher I worked with a Montessori school and CCE is the backbone of the learning process. How children love to read those descriptive reports we generated for them. Is it the grading and recording that has pushed us, the teaching community into taking umbrage in tests and projects? Once again the onus of learning completely rests on the children and in fact, many teachers have cribbed how they find very little time to do meaningful work with children. Irony!
Thank you anu for this comment. What was meant to be of help to teachers and children somehow got hijacked by others intent on using it for their own purposes - maybe it is this unconnectedness that has riled teachers. Do you think the idea can still be rescued?
Yes, I am optimistic. We should look for schools where it works well and create a sharing platform. Two, the external agencies that market books, materials, software platforms should be kept out of school. Learning Assessment in my opinion cannot be outsourced. However, assistance from experts is always welcome. Understand practices from 'alternate' schools [Schools run by KFI, Montessori schools etc] which are in spirit and practice child centered and have created their own approach. As a teacher, my perspective on what / how of assessment should undergo a change and get more creative. For instance, ask children to create a quiz on the lesson and conduct for each other, dramatize a concept, write out ads for appropriate concepts esp. in chemistry, eco science, design games like pictionary and bingo based on science concepts, math concepts... OH! there is so much one can do provided as a team we are willing to look for and explore alternatives. The team should also include parents... Keep the FAs only work on the how differently, creatively. This will also provide a platform for children who do not succeed in regular assessments to showcase their learning. Most importantly, we should be willing to get to know the children and trust their learning abilities Thanks for your prompt response.
This article clarifies the concept of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) effectively, distinguishing it from misconceptions. It's a concise guide for anyone seeking clarity on this important educational approach. best ICSE schools near vanasthalipuram Hyderabad
